Efficacy of Cognitive Behavior Therapy on Quality of life, Anxiety and Fatigue of cancer section’s nurses: A Clinical Trail study

Introduction: As one of the members of the care team, nurses are confronted with a lot of work-associated stress whereby they will experience mental health problem if this stress continues. This study aims at investigating the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy on quality of life, anxiety and fatigue of cancer section nurse’s at 2017.   
Methods: Research method was quasi experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The study population of this study included nurses employed at cancer section in Shahid Ghazi Hospital. 30 nurses were selected by available sampling method and randomly were allocated in two groups of experimental and control (30 participants for each group). Experimental group participated in 10 sessions of 45-minute group cognitive behavior therapy and control group received no intervention. Subjects in both experimental and control groups have answered quality of life, anxiety and fatigue scales before treatment and after treatment. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). 
Results: Results indicated that there were significant differences in post-test mean scores of experimental and control groups and cognitive behavior therapy could significantly increase quality of life and reduce anxiety and fatigue of nurses (P < 0.001). 

Conclusions: According to the results, this therapeutic approach can be used as an effective therapeutic activity in improving quality of life and decreasing anxiety and fatigue of nurses in order to promote health and care purposes. Based on research findings it is recommended by cognitive behavior therapy for nurses, the quality of life, anxiety and fatigue be changed.
