Introduction: Today, there is a great deal of emphasis on teaching and learning about the elderly concern for death and end of life. This study aimed to investigate the attitudes of the elderly towards the end of life concerns.
Method: In this cross-sectional study, 131 healthy elders referred to Jahandidegan centers in Tehran were selected by convenience sampling method. Data collection instrument included a demographic data sheet and Elderly Attitude Questionnaire on end of life
Results: Results showed that the mean and standard deviation of attitude to end of life concerns was 82.41 ± 10.83, indicating moderate and somewhat desirable attitude. 39.7% of elders were in poor attitude, 95.5 % fairly good and 0.8 had a good attitude. There was no statistically significant difference between the attitudes of the elderly towards the end of life concerns by gender, education, marital status and occupation.
Conclusion: Given that the attitude of the elderly towards the end-of-life concerns is not at the optimal level, one can conclude that providing nurses with the necessary training can be used to promote end-of-life care for the elderly.
