There is little information about the awareness level of triage in nurses. This study aimed to determine the knowledge level of hospital triage in the nurses. Methods: This was a across-sectional study using census sampling. The researchers made questionnaire included 25 questions in three parts of demographic data, pure triage knowledge (15questions) and triage decision making (10 questions). Seventy nurse in the emergency departments participated in the study from all hospitals of Ahvaz in 2015. The reliability of the questionnaire was done by test-retest. The data was analyzed using Kappa statistic independent t-test, K.S, Chi-Square Tests and one-way Anova software based on SPSS19. Results: Finally, the knowledge of triage in nurses from different areas showed that36 nurses (51.4%) had low level while only31 nurses (44.3%) had a moderate level of knowledge about triage. Conclusion: Awareness of Emergency Department Nurses who were involved in the Triage of Patients were assessed as undesirable. This requires emergency department in the use of a valid and reliable scale to increase consensus in decision- making with equipment that train, manpower and use of equipment necessary for triage.
