Method: In this interventional study 100 patients who were going to undergo elective orthopedic surgery in a hospital in Birjand were randomly assigned into two control and intervention groups. Data was collected using standard Spielberg anxiety inventory. Collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Mean age of the patients was 24.27±6.29 years. Mean of anxiety between the groups was statistically significant after the intervention (p=0.03). In the intervention group, mean score of anxiety before education, before surgery and after discharge were 45.78±6.23, 45.18±6.76 and 45.2±5.31, respectively. A statistically significant relationship was found between the mean score of anxiety before education and before surgery (p=0.04). Conclusion: Blending education can be combined with various educational methods to educate patients individually and in groups in order to reduce their level of anxiety.
