A New perspective in Blind Patients Care by Using Simulation Model

Introduction: The accurate and proper planning in the field of nursing education in creating the capability and acquiring the necessary skills in the students of this field includes an important part of nursing education. However the acquisition of sufficient training because of technical and ethical reasons is challenging, Several methods have been used to teaching. Using simulation is one of the new methods in nursing education. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of blindness simulation among a group of nursing students.
Methods: This qualitative study was performed by conventional content analysis in the school of Nursing and Midwifery from April to July 2019 in Tehran, Iran. A total of 14 semi structured interviews and 2 focus group interviews were conducted by purposive sampling of the nursing students. Data collecting was continued until saturating data. Interviews were done for 45 to 60 minutes. Data analysis was performed by Graneheim and Lundman  method. We tried to analyze qualitative data based on valid criteria.
Results: The first stage of data analysis revealed 231 initial codes. The ongoing process of analysis, comparison, and reductions resulted in a final number of two main themes with 7 subthemes were identified in this study including: Earn a new perspective and transforming care in the shadow of the experience.
Conclusion:  Based on the results of this study, the use of simulation training is an effective way of teaching and evaluating the amount of knowledge and skills necessary for the blindness for nursing students. Using this method of teaching is recommended to all nursing students Training in patient care.
