Factors Affecting the Effective Relationship between Nursing Managers and Nurses from the Nurses' Viewpoint

Introduction: Effective communication between nursing managers with nurses plays an important role in improving the quality of nursing care. The aim of this study was to investigate the effective factors on the relationship between nursing managers and nurses from the viewpoints of nurses.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study among nurses working in Birjand's Vali-e-Asr Hospital who met the inclusion criteria, 100 patients were selected by random sampling and entered the study. Data collection tools included a demographic form and a researcher-made questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS software using independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. Structural equation modeling was used to determine the effective relationship between nursing managers and nurses by human, organizational and communication factors.
Results: Human, organizational and communication factors are effective in explaining the effective relationship between nursing managers and nurses. Among the human factors components, the highest mean score related to the individual characteristics component and lowest mean was related to the social characteristics component. Also the mean score of organizational factors in the dimensions of organizational structure and organizational culture were[1] (3.58 ±0.64) and (3.42 ± 0.57) respectively and mean score of communication factors in communication channel dimensions and communication styles were (3.06 ± 0.60) and (3.39 ± 0.50) were obtained.
Conclusion: Effective factors in creating effective communication between nursing managers and nurses include human, organizational and ultimately communication factors. Therefore, holding workshops to familiarize and pay more attention to managers' effective communication is an effective step in improving communication interactions.
