The relationship between resilience, executive function and life satisfaction in the elderly

Introduction: Challenges facing the elderly, which sometimes lead to lack of adaptation and helplessness in facing a hard situation can change life satisfaction in old age. The aim of this study was investigated of relationship between resilience, executive function and life satisfaction among elderly in retirement centers in Guilan.
Methods: The statistical population of this analytical correlation study were all elderly people in retirement center in Guilan province in 2024. The sample size was 160 older adults were selected using random sampling framework. Data were collected based on Abbreviated mental test (AMT), Life satisfaction index-z (LSI-Z), Connor Davidson Resilience scale (2003) (CDRS) and Trail Making test (TMT) as collection tools. For analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient was used in version 21 of SPSS software due to significant level P<0.05.
Result: The results showed that there is a positive significant relationship between life satisfaction with executive function (p<0.05, r= 0.26), life satisfaction with resilience (p<0.05, r= 0.52) and showed that there is a significant relationship between resilience and executive function among elders (p<0.05, r= 0.23).
Conclusions: By increasing the level of components such as resilience and executive function, life satisfaction in the elderly can be improved.
