Effectiveness of group training on knowledge and practice of religious duties and its relationship with students' happiness

Introduction: Happiness is one of the most efficient emotions and plays a great role on mental health. In recent years, researchers and psychologists have tried to provide methods to increase the level of happiness in individuals. Spiritual and religious training are examples of these methods. The aim of this research is to study the effect of group training on knowledge and practice of religious duties and its relationship with students' happiness. Method: In this quasi-experimental study, 40 students of Almahdi higher education center in Isfahan were divided randomly into two groups of 20 students (control and experimental). Experimental group received 8 training sessions on knowledge and practice of religious duties, but control group did not receive any training. Before and 8 weeks after the end of training, both groups completed the oxford happiness questionnaire (with Cronbach's alpha reliability: %90). Data was analyzes using SPSS v.18 software. Results: In this study, experimental and control groups were homogeneous in demographic features. The average age of participants was 21.52(±1.84). Comparison between average scores after happiness test in studied groups and analyzing covariance scores of happiness test shows that there was significant difference between control and experimental groups (p<0.002). Conclusion: Results of this study revealed that training on knowledge and practice of religious duties are effective on the level of students' happiness and should be considered further. |
